How to love yourself, your neighbor and God.

In this life many have concluded that love is the greatest of all things. When we think about God and all his hand has created, we are left speechless and in awe. We simply cannot comprehend how all things came into being. God remains the biggest mystery to mankind. The amazing thing is there is one word that sums God up, and that word is love. Now we know that love is the greatest of all things, we also know God is the greatest of all things. So, it is fair to say God is love. Now here comes the interesting part. If we can define love, we also can define God. The best definition of the word love is found in 1Corinthians 13:4-8 and it states4” Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.Love never fails.”

Using this scripture as the definition of the word love let us substitute the word God for the word love. Now not only can we define love, but we can also define God. God is patient, God is kind. God does not envy, God does not boast, God is not proud. God does not dishonor others, God is not self-seeking, God is not easily angered, God keeps no record of wrongs. God does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. God always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.God never fails.

Now that we summed up that part, the question remains how do we love ourselves and our neighbors. As the scriptures state we must be patient with each other, we must be kind to each other, we must not envy each other, we must not boast or be proud. We must not dishonor each other we must not be selfish or easily angered. We are to keep no records of those who wronged us or delight in evil but rejoice with the truth. If we apply these principles of love when we interact with our neighbors we will have protection, trust, and hope. The love that is shared will always persevere and never fail.

Now to the hard part, how do we love God? If we posed this question to a child, it would be easily answered. The answer is by loving ourselves and our neighbor with whom God created for this simple purpose. When the world was full of love there was no need for the law. After Eve was deceived and later deceived her husband, Adam. The two now had to wrestle with not only knowing what was good but also knowing what was evil. They gave birth to two sons and one would murder the other. This new evil in the world is the reason God created the laws of Moses. Then a little over 2000 years ago God brought love back into the world through His one and only son Jesus Christ. And at that point there was no need for the laws of Moses. A new law had emerged, and it was very simple. Mathew 22:37-40 states 37 Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’[a] 38 This is the first and greatest commandment. 39 And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’[b] 40 All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.” if you can master these two commandments then there is no doubt you will see God. May you continue to live your life with a heart full of love. Thanks for allowing me to share some love with you. Please like and share this message and be eternally blessed!
